What is Content Creation?
Content is the written text part of a website or blog that users read, just as you are reading this text now. Content creation is the process of creating 'targetted' text written specifically to feature highly for related keyword phrases in the three major search engines, Google, Yahoo! and Bing. Targetted relates to how the text is written in terms of keyword density, which is the number of times a single word, specific phrase or similar phrases appears in in the created content. Content that has a high density of keywords that are relevant to the website itself, as well as the domain name (the name that appears after the www. in a browser address bar, www.domainnamehere.com) should generally feature better in Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) for related search terms.
How does content creation work?
Whilst having a website is good the online marketplace has expanded rapidly recently and as such the amount of competition online has increased. This has made it more difficult for websites to appear on Page 1 of search results pages, thus reducing the traffic and potential customers. Content creation attempts to combat this by looking at the broader range of keywords that are applicable to your business and creating new web pages with text written specifically around these keywords. As a search engine algorithm (CHECK) (the method by which the display order of a search results page is determined) defines any difference in your entered search term (for example pluralisation) as a unique phrase, even if it is for the same product or service, different results may appear on these pages.
Content creation uses this factor to identify possibilities that may exist for new content written with a high density of these keywords to be addded to a website with the aim to increase visibility in search engines. By having a large amount of relevant content, tailored to keywords that apply to your business sector your website is more likely to receive website visitors related to your market segment. The problem exists in marketing that better known brands already have an established identity and therefore many people are likely to either browse directly to these websites or enter brand specific keyword phrases in search engines to bring up the appropriate page.
Content creation focuses more on generic terms, related to your business, that offer a higher opportunity for potential search traffic. By creating new written text that is specific to these terms it is possible to claim a portion (though not all) of users for these keyword phrases. When extrapolated, by the addition of further pages specific to other terms, this slowly adds up meaning a website begins to generate an increase of visitors due to normal internet user search behaviour. Any business or personal website looking to improve in search results should consider relevant content creation as an essential part of marketing a website online, helping both the website owner as well as general user experience.
